This isn't a joke, game or puzzle. Someone asked me to help identify this object, which he found among his late father's stuff. Gotta admit, it's wierd. Only clue I can provide is the guy's dad owned a watch factory in the northeast.

What the heck is this? Take a whack at it. Many thanks.

Like a top to a cylinder, but it wasn't threaded- it just slipped on.

"Email sent on dog's nose..."
Yes, that's a dog's nose. We're one for one.

It's NOT anything to do with drug paraphenalia, either. Good guess, though. And it looks like a Mason symbol at bottom, but probably isn't...

What is this thing?

It looks like a suction cup. You pump the air out through the valve and create a vacuum.

Well, it is made of cast iron, n2s. I dunno. No threads on the bottom, just smooth. It fit over/into something else with just a pressure fit.

Maybe something to do with the radium from painting watchfaces? The factory was contaminated with radioactivity. And women, I heard, used to paint the watch faces with a tiny brush... before the days when they knew it was dangerous (1940's?). Never guess how they kept a tiny wet point on that brush... yup.

it's a tiny little kettle for a very small spot of tea.:D

Actually, i'm clueless like most things in life:)

I was thinking it was the lid for a container.
Well perhaps something like the lid for a paint or finish spray bottle, or even an alcohol torch...

Is it from an old compressor like one found in a small machine shop? Maybe even one that uses steam?

Well, that is darn sure a fitting for a hose. Something went in -- or out -- through that hose. Hard to see anything high pressure without a gasket on the bottom of the housing. Steam generator top?

That is the first steam powered curling rock . The theory was you steam heated the iron base and it would temporarily liquify the ice it glided over .............. It was outlawed after a protest from the sweeper,s union as it made them obsolete .

That's one of those thingamajigs that fit on top of a whichamacallit...I'm pretty sure, if not, I don't have a clue what it is, but don't drop it on your foot.

It something to do with zombies, but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

That is the prototype zombie brain transplanter . The theory being you could vacum the old one out one ear and venturi the new one in the other ear in one smooth painless operation .

Considering the physical characteristics of zombie brains, low pressure suction would do the job. Shhhuuuuooop!
