Help Identify old knife.

To me it looks like an over sharpened KA-BA fighter style knife, possibly just a cheap copy.

How long is the blade ?
Did you check for a hint of any markings on the guard or pommel ?
With no visible markings I'm thinking you may be out of luck though.

Thank you for your reply!
Blade is 6 inches. No visual markings at all. The only visual difference I saw with KaBar is the choil. Also, steel is pretty corrupted, even after 24 hours in CLR it couldn't remove all the rust, makes me think it is not the best quality steel.

I agree with your assessment. I think it is a very old Kabar.

In 1979, two weeks before I bought my first pilot survival knife, I bought a leather handled knife that was similar to the Ka-Bar at Jack's Army Store in Chattanooga TN. It had a peened pommel and leather handle, and had a 6 inch blade and was made in Japan. It had a near plumb purple colored bluing The being shorter than the ka-bar but longer that the PSK, and cheaper than either was what drew me too it, but the steel was soft, the blade bent. Two weeks later I replaced it with a Camillus Pilots Knife that I carried for years and took on some interesting adventures.

Interesting! This one was found in Boulder Creek, CA. I've been in Chattanooga couple years ago, cool place.
