Hi,

I saw this photo looking up bread recipes, and I liked the look of this knife. This seems to be a stock photo.

It looks like this is a secondary pen blade, similar to the blade on a Case Mini Texas Jack, with the knife being single layer, square brass bolsters, slightly rounded. There is a visible gap between the scales and the bolster. The blade doesn't look too old. Initially I thought there were two pins in the bolster, but they're both off-centre, so I don't think they are actual pins - maybe just marks on the brass.

Any ideas?

Edit: something else I noticed - I don't see a choil. I know it's not much to go on, and in case you're wondering why I liked it without seeing the whole knife, I liked the brass and carbon-steel pen blade, and wondered what knife it was.

Edit 2: I found a different image with a larger view on the knife. It was on a Russian website, so the knife may be from a Russian manufacturer.

You’re gonna have to do better than that. The owner of the pic doesn’t approve hot linking and won’t allow the pic to show.

So if you want some help you’re gonna have too work a little harder. Do a reverse picture look up and maybe you can copy the jpeg file and just post it that way.

(looks like he fixed the link in the original post).

FWIW, I still can't see the photo (nor could I see John's attempt to help post it).

Whoa, the magic/mystery of technology!??!:confused::rolleyes:
In the original post, I see only a blue square containing a question mark where the pic should be, but when I clicked on reply to see if there was a URL or something, the photo shows up in the quoted version of the post!! Madness, I tell you! ;)
(I certainly can not ID the knife from what's contained in the pic. :()

Similar experience here. When I first looked at the OP, no pic was visible. I posted a reply with what seemed to be a fixed IMG link and, lo and behold, there it suddenly was in the OP, as if by magic. I feel like I'm being teased a little bit.

All that said & done, the knife looks interesting and the bread looks quite tasty, though. :D

Hey, me too! After replying to the OP, I can now see the pic in the initial post!

Sorry to cause you guys problems. I didn't realise the original image was not allowed to be hotlinked. I changed the images afterwards, which may be why you can now see them.

It looks to be a German Knife or of that region, I’m assuming this because of the different pin colour - ( the dark mark you see is the Pin ) the Bolsters are heavily patina’d Brass through age.

Stag Scales which show again age and the old type of Hue that Stag obtains over time.
The blade to me does look old that has a long set in Patina that is natural and not forced.

I'm wondering what that knife is even doing there.
Not long enough to cut a decent slice of bread nor able to to spoon out the salt without making a mess......photographers licence no doubt.
Perhaps the magazine or website could link to the photographer ...they'd know.
Cheers.
