at first glance it looks like and old browning however i have seen some Sears models look like that.. what does the barrel say? just above the grip stock..either nice piece of american history. just how old i am not sure. my grandpa left my dad a sears shotty that looks very similar (if my memory serves me) to yours.

pic below is the sears ranger pump. see the similarity?

ah! very nice indeed. if i am not mistaken, i THINK at one point remington made shotties for sears. i could be wrong. I will swing by my dad's sometime this week and take a pic of his. i think it looks just like yours but i cannot remember. its been a few years since i have seen my grandpa's OLD semi shotty

do not blue that gun yourself. i would clean it good with some quality oils and put it back up. it will help to keep from rusting more. ill almost bet that thing (aside from replacing the spring) still shoots very well. heavy isnt it? lol i love those old stocks

Remington made on browning patent my uncle had one he bought new around 1950, basicly abrowning auto 5 made in a remington plant

There ya go, I was close to right. I said it looked like a old Browning, you got yourself a nice old piece there. If It were me I think I'd do some more research before I decided to either restore it or leave it as is.

Thats a neat gun you have there. I've seen a lot of Browning Auto 5's over the years, but not many Reminton 11-A's. I'd have it checked out by a gun smith for funtion, the rust stabalized so it doesn't go anywhere, then shoot it!

Later versions of that shotgun were called the "Sportsman". Usually marked with an "S" at the beginning to the serial number.
