I have been looking at pictures on the net but everything I find has is labeled "Ka-bar" with a dash, this is "kabar" no dash. Any ideas? Knockoff?

I'd cut a few years off the "latest date". Probably 1961 to 1964 at the latest. It doesn't have a model number on it, so it precedes when Cole bought Kabar in 1966. Cole started putting model numbers on Kabars around 1967. It probably also is before 1961 when the Brown family sold Kabar to some Olean business men who ran it into bankruptcy. The Robinson Knife Company bought the assets, and then later sold them to Cole National. It's kinda iffy as to how many and what kind of knives were made during the 1961 to 1965 period.

Thanks zzyzzogeton,

From the looks of it, the manufacture looks a little hasty, nothing to write home about but, yeah. I like the knife personally so :) Just wanted to know a little more about it. It's just when you hold it you like, well thats practical...nothing life changing just, good.

I like the long hollow grind it has, not many knives of this type with a good hollow grind.
