Help Identify Vintage Butcher Knife

Found this at an estate sale last week. It's shaped liked a typical butcher knife, but it's much thicker, more like a hunting knife. Appears to be hand forged. Any ideas on what I have here?

Is it just me or does it look like it was chrome plated ?
Anyways it looks just like an unmarked knife my dad gave me ( tip was broken so I repurposed it for woods use ). He had got it from the army back in the mid 80's when they had to switch everything to stainless steel. I never looked as they were kind of rotted, but it could've had a brand stamped into the handle scales.

Not chrome plated, just the way the light hits the patina-ed carbon steel. A guy at the estate sale thought this was military, so maybe it is?

Doubt it was hand forged or plated. It looks like a good quality high carbon steel French chef's knife, could be from any number of makers. Should take a wonderful edge, but will develop a patina after contact with acidic foods, fruits. Used to have one like it, from Sabatier, I believe. Wish I still had it. You've got a keeper there.

Military chef/cooks knife from the 1960's, give or take a few years either way. They're heavier than a normal chef pattern, and lack the fit/finish of a commercial knife. I've seen them made by Clyde Cutlery, Ontario, and I seem to recall Foster on early ones. Google "Clyde chef knife", and you'll find them. They were simply etched on the side with the company, year of production, and sometimes a few other things, and these etchings are quickly lost.

I don't know the maker but I have one just like it, same thick stock and handle. The tip broke so I cut it down a couple inches and turned it into a utility knife of sorts.
