Hello everyone - first post here. I hope this isn't a breach of protocol (I read the rules, I promise) (ok, I skimmed them), but could I get some help identifying this axe/hatchet/tomahawk blade?

I'm a n00b to this stuff.

TIA

Unfortunately, no better pic available. At least not for awhile.

It appears to have a relatively short handle - maybe 16" or so. I've done the typical googling and haven't found anything like it at all. I'm starting to wonder if it is custom.

if you could get better pictures sometime it would be alot easier to identify all i can say is it looks like a double headed battle axe, from the design probably a wallhanger not a fighting axe, the steel looks kinda thin

Looks like a Cold Steel Bad Ax. Check out link.

kind of but the handle looks like it goes thru the axe shaft and out of the top unlike the cold steel that is enclosed over the handle

That's the BAD AXE, an old discontinued Cold Steel product
It has the same construction as the Boar Spear, the OPs image just shows the same axe from the back.
They have been discontinued for some time, but you still see them around on auction sites
