I have an old knife that was in with my grandfather's fishing tackle. I have found similar knives but this one has a compass built into the handle. I am wondering if it has been moded or if it came that way since I can't find one. From what I found it's a Bonsa Solingen fixed blade hunting knife with an Indian chief on the sheath.

New here, first post thanks for any help.

Looks like a fairly typical German-made hunting knife. I had a similar one in the 1950s when I was a kid (that was before color TV!), but without the compass. Nice keepsake.

Bonsa = Bontgen and Sabin, a German knife company that produced knives for over 100 years, closing in the early 1980s.
The compass is probably original as it was also made in Germany.
