Im new here, needed help identifying a knife maker from the markings but just realized you need to pay for this site to post pictures.

Maybe someone can anwser from the information I provide.

The knife is a damascus blade, skinner style. Almost looks like a stainless damascus. Has a brass butt with a Russian double eagle head so I beleive it to be Russian made.

The knife definetley seems to be hand made to me from some of the imperfections I noticed like un-matched sides, very slight bend in the blade could have been from a hammer mark etc.

There are two dark stampings on the blade itself. The stamping themselves look hand made and a little rough.

The first stamping is absolutley - ( rA ) In Russian I think this can mean a couple things.

The second stamping looks like a C with a a smaller O inside of it. The top part of the C kicks up almost like it would on a sideways horseshoe but the bottom part does not have it.

Realize this is tough, really want to identify this knif, maker and value. Picked it up at an estate sale.

Any ideas comments etc. welcome.......Realize I'm probably going to here pay for a membership and post pictures atleast a few times but all is good.

Thanks!

You can open an account on Photobucket or one of the other image hosting sites, upload the photos there and link to them without being a paying member here (or there for that matter). I've been using Photobucket to post pictures here for years in spite of being a paying member.
