My brother-in-law's knife and hoping to identify which Frost Cutlery model it is. Pretty slick how the scales fold around to expose/deploy the blade.

Thanks!

EDIT: This is a Barry Wood designed Tuckaway Rotating Folder, Model #17-990. (Thanks to A Arathol and K KenHash for the identifications!)

ACK has quite a few MK1 Custom Swing Lock and Colt Swing Hunter listed (~$450-900), which look to be made by Barry Wood. Safe to assume my BIL's having "Japan" stamped on the blade equates to a mass production of lesser value?
The Colt was factory made knife as well, as far as I can tell. That’s a small sample size though. They seem to be rare, but value really depends on how the Seki knives collector market goes.

Seems to be doing increasingly well from what I’ve seen over the years, but it will take a while for masses to realize that Frost contracted decent Seki made knives as well, instead of the lowest end models they’re known for. From what I’ve noticed, there are SOME collectors of all knives Seki.

Barry Wood designed and built the original MK1 in the late 1960s. The Colt Tuckaway was a collaboration between Colt and Wood. He had parts outsourced and assembled the knives in his shop. Total production was maybe 15000 in the few years it was made.
The Frost Cutlery swing lock is a more mass produced version made in Japan I believe. You don't see them very often but they don't get the prices that the Barry Woods knives do.

Frost never mentioned Barry Wood or any licensing agreement in ads for these. I don't know when they started production on them, but they were available in Frost Cutlery catalogs through the early and mid 90's, and disappeared by the late 90's (97-98).

if i can figure out how to upload them, usually i just click on the image and it brings me to my photos but this wants a url?
