Hi, I picked up this sword recently. The blade is about 23 1/2" long give or take if I measured it correctly. There doesn't appear to be any signature on the tang but it appears to be legit after talking briefly to a local sword dealer. The tang is black in color from age with a little rust. The blade is extremely sharp for the age with only one little nick in the edge. I think if I read right the blue/brown cord designates it as a captain or lieutenant's weapon. It shows no signs of being aged with acid or tampered with in any way. Anything you can share would be appreciated. Thank you Dave.

Following. I have similar, but missing the tsuba, and does have markings on the tang. I’ll get photos up this weekend.

Little to no information, or at least accurate information can be provided from those poor photos. Looks like a type 98 gunto koshirae. Ignore the tassle, they are easily changed.

The photos are too small to see and the most important photo, the nakago (tang) is not included.

If anyone gives you information based on these photos, I would take it with a grain of salt.
