I just purchased a knife with the mark BK in an oval for a makers mark. Anyone know who this might be? Thanks for the help.

Sorry Marcel I can't help you with your question...

But this should be a lesson to makers that want to use a funky design or logo on their blades instead of their name!!!:)

Do you have a photo of the knife? I went to bladesmithing school with Bobby Keller. I may be able to ID the blade with a picture.

When I saw the title of this thread, I was gona say almost the exact same thing as Nick and Bobby! If a customer can't find you, they certainly cannot buy a knife from you!

The custom collectors forum has a pretty good sized list of markers marks as a sticky. Worth a shot.Good luck..

Well, this isn't really an oval, but the initials are right:

Sorry.... :D

Sucks for the maker...

Ed... I once read a post where you talked of a fellow who brought you a knife to identify. You were unable to... and if I remember it right, you ended up getting an order from it...

Within an hour, I was on the phone with Henry Evers' assistant, hashing out the details for a hotstamp with my last name.

I still know folks who don't put any sort of mark on their knives.

I don't know anbout Bobby Keller, but IIRC, Bill Keller uses a BK in the center of the shape of Texas.

Thanks for all the responses to my query. I will photograph the knife over the weekend and post a picture. The knife really looks well made. Possibly forged with a flat grind and file work on top of the blade. Cocobolo and stag crown handle. I hope photos will get me some information on this maker. Thanks again.

This is precisely why, whenever I do actually get around to finishing a knife, it has my last name etched on it.
