Help Identifying Maker

Hello. I am new to this forum.

I have inherited a large knife collection from my father. I have been pouring through paperwork and examining blades for several weeks. Dad kept meticulous records early on, but over the past 10 years or so, documentation became more and more sketchy.

I am currently having trouble identifying the origin of two of his knives, and I thought, perhaps, that knowledgeable folks here might be able to help me out.

The first is a fixed blade knife with an either antler or bone, and stacked leather washer, handle. It looks old, and similar in design to a Scagel (he has two of those), which it is clearly not. On the blade is a "VS" mark.

The second is, what appears to me anyway, a well-made lockback folder with SS blade, a [probably] nickel silver front bolster, really nice dove-tailed fossil ivory scales, and some file work on the liners, and on a portion of the backstrap. The only visible markings are on the blade, where "K C B" appears, along with a number just underneath (1006, FWIW).

Dad was from south Texas, and he spent decades buying knives and supporting area knife makers. So, these could be from Texas makers. But, he also traveled to many shows (Los Vegas, Atlanta, OKC) and purchased many knives from many makers across the country.

I'd really appreciate any help, or suggestions on where else to look for help. Thanks.

I looked through the 2000 Knives Annual thoroughly. No luck on the nice Skagel-styled fixed blade. VS is little to go on.

However, I DID find your man on the lockback:

Kirby C. Bailey
Lytle, TX.
Mark: Initials and serial number.

He has a couple of phone numbers if you need, but a google search may provide that. LMK.

Good luck. Thanks.

Brilliant! Thank you for taking the time to ferret that out. Much appreciated.
