Help Identifying Mountain Duty Scales?

My kids gave me a knife for my birthday. It's beautiful. The listing described the scales as wood. Anyone know what kind of wood this might be?

If I had to guess... I'd guess dyed & stabilized maple burl.
If I had to know, I'd call Garth Reckner

My kid is 18 months old.... and she already has gone for my crab shack slicer with dyed wood before.

If I get her hooked on busse, I don't have to worry about her getting into drugs. She will be too broke!
