Help Identifying Old Emerson

Hello, I'm a new member of Blade Forums but have been a lurker for a long time.

I have an Emerson knife that I would like some help identifying. This was the very first pocket knife that my father gave me. It was his and he passed it down to me, thus the sentimental value of this knife to me is huge. It was my woods knife, fishing knife, everything knife. I have many memories with this knife and it is one that I will always hold on too. I've recently been learning a lot more about knives and models but I can't find any information on this one. Could someone help identify this blade?

Hmm perhaps my google-fu is weak but I can't find another knife like this online. I'm sure it's discontinued but not even a picture or trace.

Looks like my Raven, scales and clip that is. My Raven has the CQC style Tanto blade. Made in 2001 as per blade stamp. I bought it at Blade Show in Atlanta, met Earnest E. at the show, super cool guy. You got a screw missing from your clip?

Looks like it. Didn't even realize until you mentioned it. This knife has been through some hard use over the years. 97' and still goin' strong!

A easy way to remember the difference is the is the Raven has the hard FRN ( plastic ) type handle while the Blackbird is G10

Love this knife, and the Super Raven's wave was hidden behind the handle when opened.

That's a very awesome piece of Emerson history! Here's to making more memories with Emersons!

Thanks everyone.

This was always my favorite knife simply because it was the first knife my dad handed down to me. That, coupled with the tons of memories I've made with it, this knife will always be priceless to me.

I must say I was rather excited when I found out it was the second production model by Emerson and in the first year produced!

I think I need to retire this knife and replace it with a new Emerson once funds allow :)

This one will be kept forever, only taken out for story time, or if I ever have the opportunity to meet Mr. Emerson to ask for him to sign it.

Keep using it but save for a new one. You would be if you didn't know this info. Just be careful with it!

What will your new model be?

I have other knives that I currently am rotating for EDC but I'm sure the Raven will still find ways to sneak into my pocket. So many memories that even my friends recognize the knife when I bring it out.

I would love to get a Super Commander in all black. Straight edge, not a huge fan of serrations but this one was a gift.

Freeekin cool man! NEVER let that one go. That one has memories oozing off of it!

No way! That would be like selling my childhood.

Also in case anyone was interested in how long an Emerson can last under hard use. Well. 18 years and counting

The other cool thing, I don't think anyone else has pointed out is that the thumb disc is oval shaped, because when they originally ordered the disc it was too big and had to be filed down by hand. I believe that was only on 97 model Emersons, that's another thing that makes it unique. You should send it in to Emerson at least to get sharpened and then you can have them look over the knife and see if anything needs to be replaced.

Lol aside from the clip screw everything should be there. Knife functions perfectly.

I've never met Earnest Emerson but from watching his interviews, this is how he wants to see his knives used.
