Help identifying old knife

First post here. Sorry if its in the wrong forum or its breaking rules but I couldn't find anything specific to knife ID. I'm not looking for value as the knife is pretty beat up but when I moved into my house I found a few old knives. Most were kitchen knives I was able to ID but then there was this. No name and just the little upside down mushroom like symbol on the handle. Th handles is hard, feels like metal but is definitely attached on each side separately. Doesnt seem to be any markings on the blade but what you can see in the second picture, the two grooves on either side of the smaller one. I'm new to knives but am trying to get started. Any help on this would be appreciated. I really just want to sharpen it and find a sheath for it but if there is a chance it's something unique or special I don't want to beat it up more. Even just the type of knife would be a start. Thanks in advance.
