I'm no expert by any means, and without a maker's mark, it's hard to be 100% certain, and I'm not even 100% sure myself if any of this is an indicator or not, but the black/yellow/then red patterned rings, more rounded handle shape, butt cap, both coupled with the full pommel guard, makes me think of one from the old Marbles "Ideal" / gladstone line of knives, possibly '30's?
Every other "similar" design I've seen, even just now on a quick google search;
remington, western, kabar, etc.: they mismatch at one of those 4 points.
Some of the Marble's Ideal knives of that era, they hit on all 4 points.
As mentioned though, crudely reground into what it is now, probably due to a combination of tip/edge breakage, and surface rust (hence the lack of a maker's mark)...
But then it could also be an 80-90's knockoff that was left out to rot, and was found and reground? IDK?
