Was tearing part of an old house built around 1860s down and found an old sack with knives in it in the attic. Know they have been there since at least before 1973. Thoughts on how old they might be? I know the one is a Case apache. And one reads whale on it thanks!

.

Toledo, Spain folding Bowie knife. The C shaped thing at the back is a shot shell puller. Handles are cattle horn 1940's- early 60's.

Richartz of Solingen, Germany for the one marked "Whale" . Shell celluloid wrap handles. Post WWIIish - 1970's.

The Apache is 1965 - 1969 ish.

Thank you, appreciate the information. Any very valuable? I was thinking the Case might have a little value...

We can't discuss value #'s. But I'd hang on to the Toledo folder and the Case. Do what you want with the Whale :).

The Spanish folder is a tourist knife. The gold on the blade is "Toledo" gold, basically a very thin layer of gold inset on iron; the black is the iron. The shell puller is for 12 and 16 gauge shells (see the stampings) which were the most popular hunting cartridges. The knife is supposed to be carried folded, in the sheath.

None of these are particularly valuable knives. You can find prices with a couple easy searches.
