Can someone give me an idea of who may have made this, "no name," American stockman. Its only tang stamp only says, "HIGH CARBON, STEEL, USA." There are no other markings on the blades and no shield. It takes a great edge and has found its way into my pocket daily for the past few months. I thought of replacing the scales since one is broken, but they seem stable, and I kind of like it the way it is.

Main blade swedge screams Camillus to me and I’ve seen a few. Truth is though if you find an older stockman odds are you found a Camillus. “ Knifemaker to the Knifemaker”

Thanks for your quick response, Camillus was my guess, but it would been just that, a guess. Further guess is, it would have been made for some generic hardware or general store sales?

Yes, Camillus made that one, its from before WW2. Its not a generic hardware store knife, it was sold by Sears. The HIGH CARBON STEEL marking was a Sears brand name used on lots of Sears knives before 1940.

Guess I should have stopped after my first guess. Thanks for the info. Maybe I’d better be a little more careful about not worrying if I mess a knife this old.
