I’m hoping someone can help me identify the maker of this knife so that I could do further research. There is a name engraved on it but I can’t make it out. On the blade it has two words. It is in a script and appears to be French. On the wooden handle I think the first word was engraved there as well. Maybe starting with a R?

Any ideas? Thanks.

That's an old Rapala fillet knife made by J Marttini in Finland.
What you see on the handle is a Fish and the registered trademark symbol.
It seems like the (R) found on products is a more modern thing but I honestly don't know.
You can still buy these at Walmart today for $14 and $12 respectively for the large and small ones.

I have used and abused a lot of those knives in various sizes. They are not only great on fish, but pumpkin carving, as well.

This thread is another example of the wealth of information, and the desire to share it, that is a big part of what makes BF (and most of its' members) so great.
