I have three -
1) Norton India Oilstone 1845 Gray and Red. Appears to be 100/320 combo 2x5x5/8 thick Red side is the 320
2) Unmarked 2"x5"x5/8" - one side is red, the other is white. The red side on this stone is smoother than the red on the 1st stone and is rougher than the white side.
3) Unmarked Gray 2x6x1 feels smoother than the white stone above.
Any suggestions to figure out the grit of number 2 and 3? I want to use these old stones. I realize that I could just buy new but I enjoy using antique tools. The first two are from my late fathers toolbox and are in great shape. The last one is from an old barn and is just slightly dished and has a couple of small chips.
