Help Identifying Unknown Buck Fixed Blade Knife

I saw a Buck fixed blade knife at a show yesterday that I was unable to identify and I've never seen similar. I have no photos but the knife had some unusual features. It had a stag handles scales with sort of an acrylic bubble inlay of a trophy Buck. The inlay was very similar to the wildlife series of folders that Camillus made back in the 1980's or early 1990's. The was no model number with the blade marked simply "Buck U.S.A." horizontally just below the spine and just in front of the handle. The blade also has a laser cut-out of a trophy buck and the design of the knife did not resemble any of the 100 series knives. The blade was roughly 4" and the knife was probably about 8" OAL. Any ideas on what this may have been?

Ignoring the handle material, did the knife look similar to this in shape?
Did there happen to be an "Anvil" symbol stamped in place of the model number between BUCK and USA?

The blade profile was different and bit more narrow. The markings are identical to this knife with no anvil marking.

I think you maybe talking about the Buck 728, these were issued for sale at Walmart years ago with a wood handle. The one you saw maybe a custom. I don't have a photo handy but, you can take a look at the knife style on the big auction sites. Without a photo this will be very hard to identify. Was the blade mirror polished?

Good thought, it has a deer profile cutout, but the 728 is a China Buck, the OP said it was marked USA.

Nope, the blade cut-out is at about mid-blade. As mentioned, this is a U.S. made Buck.

Was the "Buck USA" laser etched or stamped into the blade? A fake can have USA on it and still be a fake. Draw a picture for us please.

It's not a fake and the markings appear to have been stamped. Looks like it is in fact the 475 Mentor, although the handle is very unusual. It looks just like the Camillus "bubble" type handle inlays. I went back to the show and took a photo through the glass, which I'll try to post later.

I look forward to your photo. The larger mentor is the 470 and the smaller version is the Mini Mentor 475.
Here is a few 475 shots

Well, countless attempts to upload the photo have failed. I've tried several different ways and simply get a "file failed to upload message" with no details as to why. Looks like it will remain somewhat of a mystery, although I do think it's narrowed to the 475 Mini Mentor.

You might consider pasting your photo into an email to me and I will give it a shot. Just click on my avatar to get at my email.
