Hi guys, new member here. I love knives. I've been searching for a good 'big' fixed blade for a while...and although I haven't really decided what I want, I did find this picture and this knife is sexy! I can't figure out what it is though. So, I figured that was a sign that maybe I should join the forum.

Can any of you guys help me identify it?

Thanks for any help

its a chris reeves, I dont know what model off the top of my head, it is a single piece of steel though, I dont think they are made any more. If you find one, it will be a pretty penny.

someone here will be able to give more info than I can though, I guarantee that

Chris Reeve's site says the last of the "One Piece Knives" were delivered in 2010, so this will be a rare find, indeed.

Commissioning a custom would be expensive, also. Lots of steel to shape or remove to get from bar stock to final knife.

Thanks for the quick response guys. Yeah that definitely sounds like a expensive knife. But you helped me out a lot! I'll see what I can find out

Thanks

Shadow IV by Chris Reeves. Has not been produced in a while and had low production numbers due to cost of manufacturing. quick Forums search had one selling on the BG exchange for like 600 last year. If you really want one they do pop up on the forum exchange from time to time.

There is another company in Idaho making a similar knife. It is made for a solid piece of A2 steel. I will see if I can find out the name and post it.

This looks like a Chris Reeve Project II.
It is no longer in production and a nice knife.

They sell for around 350/400/450 for 5"/6"/7" models.

ooofta yeah, I was just checking them out on ebay. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, it seems all the really high quality knives sell for around that much.

A bit out of my price range at the moment.

Seems yinz have this under control. As soon as I saw the logo I knew it was an expensive blade. But for a solid piece of steel and selling for 400 on ebay? I think someone got a good deal. It costs a lot to machine that much steel and no doubt in my mind its a high end steel knowing CRK.

Buck nighthawk is practically the same blade for like 50 dollars

The Nighthawk I believe has a 5.5" blade while this one is 7.5" so there's a pretty big difference in length. The Nighthawk uses 420HC and while Buck's heat treat is good, I doubt it's going to compare much to the A2 steel used in the Project II. I imagine I don't have to mention the differences from an aesthetic or engineering standpoint (fit and finish, construction, etc.).
