Im new to this site and i have a few double Bit axe heads that Were my grandfathers. Im in the process of cleaning them up and putting handles on them. Most have No id marks whatsoever but One Is stamped with a small m Insider a diamond and then theres a half moon on each side of the diomond facing toward the diamond Making it kinda look Like an axe head with the moons representing the blades. I know Its Not the best description but im doing this over my phone and i dont think it will Let me post a pic. Also i have One head with the raised Part that widens out to the blade Like the kelly true Tempers pics Ive Seen but No other markings so was wondering if there Are alot of copies of those Or if theres a way to be sure. Id really appreciate any Feedback i know Its Not the Most descriptive post. Thanks guys!

Alright Kpepper I think I've got some info on your grandfather's axe. I dug around ebay and found an axe head with a similar stamp up for bid. The stamp located near the poll depicts a diamond with a notable "m" inside along with two crescent or half moons facing each other on both sides of the diamond. The seller listed the axe as ATCO Tool Works. I'm unfamiliar with this company and like you am new to this forum as well. Hopefully this helped and maybe you can find more info about ATCO here at www.Yesteryearstools.com

Here are some related photos from the auction listing that Poll&Bit found:

Not finding proof that it's AA&T, though. If you search this forum, you'll find references to ATCO (made in W. Germany) and KATCO (for King Axe and Tool Co., with the K possibly worn off).

I can clearly see the A in ATCO and you're probably right since your more knowledgeable. However I cant find much online about the tool company. Maybe Op75 knows?
