Merry Christmas fellow bladers. I got this axe in a package deal. I’ve read about axes marked “M” along with a weight, in this case “M 2 1/2.” I’m finished filing and am ready to put the wire brush to it. But in cleaning out the eye, I noticed what might be a red flag. The inside of the eye is quite rough with striations and unevenness. I’ve learned that the “M 2 1/
2” can mean the axe wasn’t made in North America, IE Mexico or China. Before I potentionally waste a handle, what do you all think this is m, where did it come from, and is it worth refinishing?
For some reason, the other photos won’t upload. There is the remnant if a sticker that looks similar to a rectangular Collins sticker, and on the other side of the head near the poll are the numerals 2 1/2 and underneath the numerals is an upper case M.
