Hey Folks, I have no idea how to upload pictures...maybe someone who is better at this stuff than I could help? I have pictures, just don't know how to link em.

I have an old school Master Hunter that I would like some help in ID'ing. It's got a secure-ex sheath, and it's a solid chunk (not San Mai) of stainless. On one side it's the Cold Steel Inc, Ventura, Calif, Made in Japan, and the other side just says "Master Hunter TM." I assumed (and so did my local knife guy) that it's a solid bit of VG-1 or 10. I saw on this forum that at one point these were AUS-8, which I never even knew existed.

Who thinks what? What do these go for now?

Thanks for any feedback.

If there is no word about steel
it's most probably AUS-8

So older Master Hunter in AUS-8
Use knife happily for decades :^)
Hey man thanks for the feedback. I'd be interested to hear back from others.

I'm going to sell it on a Canadian website and use the funds towards an SRK in AUS 8 or SK5. The SRK really intrigues me, the Master Hunter less so. I own a BK-16 and they seem pretty similar. This is a good quality knife though, really comfy and neat. And it's from an interesting era of Cold Steel. I was going to hold onto it and let it appreciate, but I'm impatient.

Hard to know for sure without pics, but with a Secure-Ex sheath, it is most likely AUS8. Also possible that it is older, and the sheath is a newer replacement. In that case it would be "400 Series Stainless".

At your membership level, value can't be discussed per site rules.

Oh got it. Won't bring up values again. Is it possible it's solid VG 1 or solid VG 10? Or were these never made as solid VG options?

Don't believe it was ever offered in solid VG-1 or 10. They have made some knives in solid VG-1 over the years, but they were marked as such. Don't think they've done anything in solid VG-10.

To post pictures you need to use an image hosting site like Imgur (it's free).

You open an Imgur account, upload pics from your computer into your Imgur album, then use the BBCode that appears next to the picture to make it appear here.

Yeah I also don't think I can sell anything, which is kinda a bummer. Living in Canada I have access to sell stuff via local options, but I just wanted to offload one thing here. Maybe if I get more into blades and stuff I'll get gold here.
