HELP! Iguess I'm not too bright

I just read the thread about the Chive being a "Deadly Weapon" because of the way it opens. I see laws about "switch blades" and other knives but I'm not sure why a knife that opens easily with one hand with a spring is a bad thing? If you're about to carve your way through a wall of human flesh, are you likely to change you mind in the time it takes to deploy the blade manually? Any one who carries a knife knows how convenient it is to be able to open it easily with one hand. Who the hell in government is wasting my taxpayer money worried about the way a pocket knife opens. It's a tool for craps sake.
