Help in changing a Casio watch batt

You do have the manual, yes? If not, get it from Casio's site (PDF file).

You need to know whether that model needs to be reset when changing the battery - that has been the biggest issue I have had with Casio watches when changing batteries.

If you look on the backside of your watch you will see 6 little indented lugs on the case. This back case is threaded into the main body of the watch. You need to turn it counter-clockwise to unscrew it. They make a special tool to do this, many different ones actually - sold on Amazon. Depending on how tight it is, and your "handiness", you may be able to get it unscrewed without that special tool. If/when you get it off, be careful - there is probably an O-ring seal around it that you will need to use upon reassembly. Good idea to coat it lightly (the o-ring) with silicone.

I'm no expert, but I've got the back off a few of mine (not Casio - Wenger's) by lightly gripping them in a vise (watch wrapped in a towel or shop rag) and then using a hammer & screwdriver to lightly tap the lug to loosen it. Not that I would necessarily recommend this, but it will work - it could also permanently damage your watch, too. Just depends on how adventuresome you are! ;)

Walmart sells the tool for taking the back off those type of watches I think it cost about $5. I had to buy one when my watch batt. died and the place I was going to take it to get it changed scratched my buddys watch pretty badly.

The Walmart tool is for watches that have a snap on back plate. If it has lugs you will need the special spanner wrench. I've seen the watch tool at Harbor Freight Tools. Don't risk scratching it all up if you don't have the right tool.

I just have my local jeweler change batteries for my watches. It doesn't cost much more than the "watch battery" places. They can even have it pressure tested if you want (for diving watches). He still uses a fully mechanical NCR cash register.

The owner's son has a display case with some knives that he sells.

Walmart has a wrench for screw backs; at least some Walmarts stock it. I don't know how good it is; haven't tried it. From the looks of it, it won't scratch your watch but it might not grip strongly enough to open it if it's really tight. That's generally true of the cheaper watch wrenches.

The three walmart stores in my area have a spanner wrench in the watch area of the store for about $5 it`s not the best but you have to decide if you want to pay for a good one you will use every 6 years. The Walmart spanner works fine for the price . Scratching mostly has to do with making sure you have a good grip so you don`t slip and scratch anything .

Harbor Freight has a decent watch back removal tool for about 10 or 15 bucks. I don't remember exactly what I paid for it. It has three pins that are adjustable to grab every other notch in your 6 notch back cover.
