This knife has been baffling me for months, I've been researching everywhere and can't seem to find any info, or another one like it. I thought I'd put it out and hopefully the wealth of knowledge on this forum can help me out.
A few months back my wife's father passed away, and the only 2 possessions of his my wife requested was his Colt 1911, and his daily carry pocket knife. We now have both of them stored away in the safe to one day pass along to our son who is 8.
I have been building a knife collection for my son lately, and when we go work in the yard, or go camping I let him carry and use the pocket knife of his choice. I have bought him a few Case knives with CV blades, one for their ease of sharpening, and also to teach him how to properly care for a CV blade, and to let him watch the Patina develop.
The problem I have is he wants a knife just like "Papa's" to add to his collection. Now eventually he will have this knife, however I feel he is too young to carry it around right now. I don't want to take the chance of having to explain to my wife that her father's knife was lost.
Like I stated above I have searched high and low trying to find one identical to this one for my son, but have come up empty. The knife appears to have been made in 2000, by the tang stamp. It is a 6318 Stockman with CV blades, and Redbone handles. I believe it may also be from the pocket worn series as it is a little thinner than my 3318 Stockman.
Now I've been able to find a Redbone 6318 with SS blades however no CV.
Any help you guys could give me as to the history, and where I might look to find another one identical to this one would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
