hi all,
after a deal gone sour - all details in GBU... -
i have cf delica with quite an half blade, since the handles show allen (or torx?) screws , maybe it's possible to open it and place a new blade..

any info on this ? somebody disassembled a cf delica ?

thanks thanks thanks

I emailed Joyce to ask her if she could help you out a couple days ago but she said they could not get blades for Japan made Spydies.
She did say that you can contact W and R and they may be able to help it out,I really don't see how though with as much metal that is missing.
It looks like the SS Delica is the same size, you may be able to bust open a SS and use the blade out of it.

thanks ! i received an answer from WR dept, Amanda said that the handles are riveted and it's not possible to change blades.. but mine has screws.. and i'f i'm not wrong a a member here disassembled a cf delica to "dremelize" the blade, so maybe there are two versions ? one riveted the other with screws..

also no way for any other intervention -with such a small blade- more than sharpening.

- Thanks also for the email , jeff, my best regards

All of then I have seen are screwed together too.Looks like Spyderco would now this.

yea, i took mine apart to customize it. the only problem i ran into was the lanyard hole is kinda "lipped" over the CF, so you cant take the knife apart all the way. but it is still rather easy to pop it out. here is what i did...

1. take a piece of string and tightly rap it around the lock so that it is held firmly down. this will do two things for you; it will free the blade so it will fall out after the pin is out, and it will keep the lock in place and not flying across the room.

2. take out the pivot pin. be careful here, there are two VERY thin washers between the blade and the handle, one on each side. be sure not to lose these.

3. slide the blad out and there ya go.

putting the blade back in can be kinda tricky be cause you have to get them damn washers back in. to help hold them in place i used a bit of lubricant on either side and they kinda "stuck" to that. also you have to pry the handle apart just a little bit, i used a screwdriver and walked it backwards toward the middle of the handle a bit. this will make it much easier to get that pin back in. really the only part of this process that is hard is making sure you get those washers back it. oh yea...and if you break it (like it isnt already) im fairly sure this will void your warranty.

wow!
good news!
i'll put a request on trade forum for a delica blade.. i think spyderco doesnt sells replacement blades.

really thanks jeff (your effort to ask to W&R was greatly appreciated) and jestyr.

You might want to find out from Sal if a SS model blade can be made to work.

you may wanna search around the forum. it seems like i remember a post where sal said the blades in the different delicas werent the same. i could be wrong here, but something in the back of my mind wants to think that

Hi Disorder, The only Delica blade that will fit the CF model will have to come from another CF model.

sal

damn.
down again.
thank you Sal for the info.. so i'm gonna trash it, i think.. will be difficult to find a cf blade..
i must edit my thread on WTB forum where i asked for any delica blade.

thanks you all,you forumites friends are really a great resource.

Don't trash it.You should be able to get something out of it from a custom maker. They could make a blade for it.

Unlikely you can get a custom blade for under $100. Chase Axinn has done custom blade design for a Benchmade 722 handle out of S30V but the work done will probably be more expensive than what you can get a replacement.

You should email him anyway he's a real nice guy and willing to try just about anything, he might have some ideas. Maybe we can somehow meld together with the G10 Rookie I destroyed the pivot pin on and make a super-Spyderco :grumpy:

thanx for the infos, now the seller answered (i sent him the repsonse from spyderco that state the reprofiling of blade and the pic/comparison with a full delica)
he wrote " i couldnt care less of what the factory says (!!!) i know the knife was not broken nor reprofiled " and he offered me a refund (of 50 usd) AFTER he will receive it back..

this fact, plus the shipping fee i have to pay, and - maybe i'm wrong- after the behavior of the seller , i don t trust him so much to send it back..
i could remain without money, knife and plus paying the extra-shipping.

think i'll keep it searching for replacement, or trade/sell to some fellow forumite.

thanks again people

p.s. i contacted chax knives askin a quote, we'll see..
