Help: Is this Millie original or fake?

Hi everyone!

Just got a pretty good offer on a Millie ($65, the person needs cash); however, the person says it was a gift so there are no receipts and there is no warranty.

I will check the knife in person, but I received photos, so thought to ask you guys if you see are any immediate red flags.
I don't have a Millie to compare it with, nor have I handled one before.

Here are the photos:

Thank you!

More close up pics of the pivet screw and the blade if possible. Right off the bat though, the blade looks crudely misshapen and the pivot doesn't look right. But maybe i'm wrong. The G10 looks good.If you can get more close up pics of the logo too that would be good. It almost looks too dark like the fakes have.

Edited: Thought you said you had already bought it. I would not buy it cause does not look right at all.

Thanks a lot for quick replies guys, I really appreciate it.

I also had a feeling that something was wrong with the blade.

Will request the following photos:

1. Blade / logo
2. Pivot
3. Box, specifically the bar code
4. Paper shipped in the box; I saw on Youtube that one fake Millie had a paper from PM2

Is there anything else I should ask for?

It's a fake. The grind angle before the choil is not straight. That's an early version of fake. Newer one looks more real.

Ask for a close up of the blade that includes a side view of the jimping. If possible get a close up of the jimping, a fake will have more of a sharp v shape, where a real one will be a bit more rounded. Also, that pivot screw looks weird, it's too small of a torx size.

Honestly, I wouldn't waste my time asking for anything else. I think you have enough info there and enough qualified opinions here to know something's not right. Pass on that one.

P.S If Rycen tells you it's fake, it's fake.

Sorry to have to give you bad news on your first post. Welcome to the forum.

On a positive note (as someone pointed out on the spyderco forum) this one has a g10 texturde handle!! A rare feature indeed!

Sell the scales and trash the counterfeit, OR engrave FAKE on it and toss it in a tool box/junk drawer. Do NOT sell it otherwise.

If you'd taken the time to read the OP's post you'd know he doesn't have the knife yet and hasn't bought it...he just wanted an opinion on the pictures the seller sent him because they looked strange.

Thank you so much guys!

This really helped me not getting burned - I will not purchase the knife.

I think this is a great welcome to the forum, even though I was hoping the knife is an original.
Forums are meant to be helpful and collaborative, which in this case was more than true.

Cheers!

Coming from a fake Spyderco victim myself, this sir is a 100% fake!

Funnily enough, I was checking some other local ads, and found another fake Spyderco - a Dragonfly H1, for $30.
It was in black, and seems that Dragonfly H1 has only been produced in yellow.

And yes, I started realizing it does make sense to pay the premium in order to get the warranty and an original.

If you don't mind buying used you can often find a square deal on the exchange here. Keep your eyes open. A good LNIB Millie pops up fairly often.
