Help, Joe Flowers: Condor Varan Handle, Shapable?

Does anyone know about or have experience with the handle composition of the Condor Varan (or Rodan or Kumunga for that matter)? I would like to do some shaping to better fit my grip preferences, but would first like to verify if the handle material is solid and not some hollow type (honeycomb) before I take a sander and files to it. If Joe Flowers (Joezilla?) still prowls this forum I hoped he could provide some insight as I believe he had some hand in the design of these knives.

Thanks to all.

Thanks Wroughndt. Seems like a great knife but I never use it cause the handle is a little big for my small Irish hands :). I have a Bushlore that is much more user friendly since I took the handle in some but didn't want to ruin the Varan if the plastic had hollow sections. I'll def post some pics when I get around to it. Thanks again for the quick response and help. Great forum here.

I can't speak directly to Condor, but assume it's probably the same poly pro used by most. I drastically reshaped the handle on my Hultafors GK and love it. The best tool for shaping was a sharp blade, after sawing the pommel and finger guard down. The material was easy to shave away, then sand. I then used a BBQ lighter to apply heat (gently, and after this pic) and it blends the small fuzzies back into the handle. Good luck and go slow.

This is the dominant reason I like wood handles on my machetes. Go slow.

I would suggest you PM Joe Flowers. He usually hangs over in the Wilderness forum where he is a moderator.
