Hawkwind, that's what is known as a "balance" khukuri. If you place the edge on a pencil/pen or other round object up to about an inch in diameter it will balance on its edge. Of course in needs to be in the rigt place which is somewhere in the thin part of the blade towards the handle.
I have two of these, cute little khuks but I understand they come in much larger sizes as well. My "as forged Chainpuri blade khuk" will also balance on its edge.

hehehe...you didn't show me that one Edutsi. Bev got to you, didn't she? ;)

The Balance is one of my favorite small khuks.

Not sure how --traditional--...............

But new traditions are good too.

? Is it a 'good' blade?
Partly depends on the use intended.
If the edge is hardened properly then more durable for outdoors use.
Even if the edge is softer it's handy for some kitchen or other light use.

BTW, Yvsa mentioned other khuks that balance;
Here's an old pic of my 25" Kobra balanced on the back of a chair.

Wow, Ysva! I've heard you describe that blade, but I hadn't actually seen it. That is magnificent! If you're ever interested in selling...
