First time I've posted a new thread so hopefully I don't sound like a total doofus.
Just found out that a common online knife retailer has the new ZT 560CBCF available and I'm not going to buy one:( Not because I can't afford it or don't want it I just feel like I don't need it. I know it's a crazy thought but even though I really want one I think I have enough knives in my edc rotation as it is and am pretty blessed with what I have. Please tell me I'm not totally crazy and this really is a reasonable decision. Don't need pity just some reassurance that even though I'm addicted to knives I'll live another day not buying this knife. Cheers

Need, my friend, has nothing to do with it. Want is all that's required. If you don't buy it now, it'll just keep eating at you until you can't stand it anymore and you'll buy it anyway. So, sooner or later, you will purchase the knife. Resistance is futile. :D

Sorry. I guess that wasn't very reassuring...but at least it was honest...:p

4 Reasons to be proud of your decision:

1. Your Water Bill
2. Your Electricity Bill
3. Your Health Insurance Bill
4. Your Car Insurance Bill

Bonus - if you really want to feel good about yourself... Your mortgage/rent/property Tax Bill.

Wise choice!

Reminds me of my son when he was young. "Dad, I NEED that toy, candy, whatever". Never I WANT it. He figured out the use of the word "need" was more powerful than "want", and would more than likely result in getting what he was after. (especially if he asked Mom) :D

Blessings,

Omar

You are completely crazy.
When you come to your senses, you will feel naked due to you meagre collection of knives.
BUY IT.

Sorry but i can't help you regarding knife purchases. I have thirty-plus reasons that support my lack of discipline when deciding whether a knife purchase is prudent or not. I won't preach what I don't practice.

I appreciate everybody's feedback. I'm still standing firm even though the knife is still available. I know in the past I would not have thought twice about purchasing this knife then experiencing buyers remorse for at least the next hour. This time I'm going to remain strong and not buy the knife. As much as I like the knife I would rather have a Laconico so that is going to be my motivation to save my money. I'll justify my actions by telling myself I am going to buy a knife just not this knife. I guess my EDC's will just have to wait another day for a new sister to join the rotation;) Cheers

honestly, if the knife was really something you wanted that bad your credit card would all ready be feeling the pain of the payment. The way I see it maybe you like it, and maybe you want it but just maybe you havent pulled said trigger because something else is going to come along that wont even have you think before swiping. Its up to you man. Just remember though the ZT's are going to go fast. So dont weigh it too long.

Once you own more than one knife, you are now only talking about matters of degree when considering adding one more. Unless you are going to get rid of all your knives but one (are you?), and since you can afford it and want it, there is no reason not to buy it.

Thanks all for the insight. I am going to stay strong and wait. Besides I see another site has the 777 on preorder and I definitely have my eye on the 888 and 600. I swear sometimes its more about the hunt then the kill. Cheers

Good call. I always struggle enjoying a new knife that I don't really need. The ones that I carry everyday and love using...those are the ones I never regret buying. I just hate wasting money on something that's going to sit in a drawer. Nothing against those of you who are "collectors", but I just have a different philosophy.

My recommendation is to look at the knife and decide if it fits in your rotation better than one of your existing knives. If the answer is yes then sell that knife and replace it with this one. If the answer is no, then you have already made the right decision.

My ¢2

p.s. And if you still have an unquenchable desire to buy a knife then go buy one and give it away to someone who needs it but couldn't afford it. Seems like I never get buyers remorse for making someone else happy. :)
