I need help finding a traditional knife. While I do enjoy slippys myself I am not well educated about them so here I am.

All suggestions welcome.
Things that will help narrow the search:
4'' closed
3/4'' wide, scale to scale, something with good palm swell
natural scale material - jigged bone, antler etc.
Stockman or whittler pattern
Steel type is not too specific, carbon steel, good stainless, no 'super steels'
Made in USA is a great plus, but i doubt any luck there.

forgot to add that $100 is going to be the absolute max.

Thanks all, cant wait to see the responses.

For $100.00 you have a lot of choices of US knives,Case,Queen,Canal Street.Case makes some real nice stockman knives in 4in lenghts,if you have a Tractor Supply store in your area, check that out,our local TSC has a nice selection of Case and Schrade knives in stock and they're all less than $60.00.

Ditto on the Canal Street; I'm waiting on a gunstock trapper from AG Russell...can't wait :D http://www.agrussell.com They are a fairly new company, but from everything I've seen, they make an excellent knife. I like the fact that they set up shop in the old Schrade bldg in Ellenville, NY.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

This search is especially hard because the feel in hand is very important. Something that is very filling is what I am looking for. So I may just have to wait until a gun&knife show to pop up around here.

Thanks again.

Evan,

You are lucky to be able to go to a Show to see and feel the knife.
If you want a 4" with a little more heft to it, try the Queen #9.

I compare the #9 with other 4 inchers: a Camillius Roughcut, a Boker, and a MooreMaker (just under 4"); and it feels more robust and heavier.
