Hey guys-
I have been carrying a mini-griptilian as my edc but I have decided I want something bigger. Can you help me out?

My preferences are:
- 3"-4" blade length
- non-serrated
- made in the USA
- below $125
- not a ball-bearing lock

Thanks- tcachelin

Assuming you like the Mini Griptilian, a natural choice would be the full-size Griptilian.

BM 710 is an excellent choice. If weight is not an issue you might check out the ZT0200

Only a few dollars more than your max $$ limit, but look at Spyderco Gayle Bradley (not made in USA but amazing knife), Spyderco Military/Paramilitary, or even a Zero Tolerance 0350.

Might also look at the Kershaw JYDII.

The Spyderco Military would be great a choice for a large folder but also at the high end of your price scale, on the lower end you should check out the Buck Vantage Force pro also try checking out some of the Kershaws.

Spyderco Military, made in USA and a much easier knife to carry than the full size Griptillian IMO.

ZT 0350, ZT 0200, or blur.

ZT 0350. the steel is S30V, which is a favorite of many forumites, and keeps an edge very well. the blade length is 3 1/4 inch, which makes it pretty chunky. it is a liner lock, and is assisted. the knife is lighter than the 0200, but heavier than some other offerings. Price~110.

ZT 0200. This knife is my primary EDC in case everything goes to heck and i need a knife i can depend on. the handle is amazing, the ergos are great, the blade steel is good, the blade is long and has a good ratio of thickness to length. it is unassisted, and is a liner lock (note- the liners on these things are huge. i would not hesitate a second do anything with it.) the only downside is that it is heavy, but this will not be a problem if you wear jeans or something with a belt. if you work in sweats, this could be a problem. other then that, it will not matter that much. Price: ~125

Kershaw Blur. this knife is fast opening, the blade is very nice and practical, the steel is nice in the more expensive ones, and the handle is great. the handle is aluminum, and so it feels great, but they also put in a very grippy insert so that it is really easy to grip securely. it is light, the clip is nice, and it is so much fun to flick. it is a liner lock, bet it is nowhere close to the 0200 in strength, so take that into account. Price: ~90

All these knives are made in America.

It is my opinion that you should go to a store and try many options before you make your decision. this could turn out to be an expensive mistake if you do not like it.

I'd also recommend the Para2.

If you look around the exchange forum here you can often find higher-priced knives selling for within your price range.

Buy a used Spyderco Military if the price is a problem, hard to beat.
Great size, great materials, great built quality.
Very very comfortable to cary, incredibly light and slim package.

Although the Military is at the higher end of your price scale, I am sure that you would not be disappointed with this choice for EDC. Made in Golden, Colorado, the Millie may seem huge to you at first when you handle one but its' size will grow on you and simply disappear in pocket due to the very light weight(4.25 oz.) of this Spydie.

Oh, and by the way, this beast cuts like a laser.....

You can't go wrong with the Full Sized Griptilian if you like the mini.

The 710 is also a great choice (little pricier), probably the smoothest I own . Or if your interested in assisted opening the Nitrous Stryker (full sized) fits the bill as well.

Head down to a local shop and see what some of the options your considering feel like in your hand :D.

the spyderco para2 fits all of your requirements.

P.S. I'm EDC'ing my para2 right now.

+1 on the ZT 0200, 350, BM 710 or 943, and Spyderco Gayle Bradley if you can get around the made in America requirement.

I would go for a Spyderco Paramilitary 2. I can't get this sucker out of my pocket since I purchased it.
