Which knife would you choose and if none of these whats your recommendation and why? especially anything cheaper as it seems these Benchmade knives are around 200.00.

1) 440A Steel: Eickhorn-Solingen PRT-XII Pro Rescue Knife

2) 154cm Steel: Benchmade Presidio Tanto 523SBK

3) 154cm Steel: Benchmade 2550sbk Mini - Reflex

I got a Bench 523 for $113.00 shipped off ebay last week. Keep at it, if you know the model you want you can find a good deal usually. I prefer tanto but I do alot of scraping and prying, and of course they are better penetrators. Your question is a noob question, it can't be fully answered as you don't say what you would br primarily using it for, or if just for general purpose or whatever. I'd choose #2 but I'm not you and I probably won't be doing the same work or have the same expectations of a knife as you do.

I agree with Ryou. It is hard to help you as you listed three fairly different knife types.

What would be your main use? Are automatics allowed in your city/state?

Two things I can offer is that Benchmade is a good solid company with many quality products and 154 CM is good quality steel.

The knife will be used as a daily knife and as a camping knife. I live in Canada so I have a feeling that automatics are banned?

Automatics have their faults, flimsily constituted for one thing even among the higher ecehelons of this type knife...I regard them as special purpose such as military or rescue but even then if I were boots on the ground i would rely on manual blades. You also will have problems carrying it across state and national borders, they are just not worth it. The 2 autos I have are not really even used one of them is pretty much just a letter opener.

You are right that automatics are illegal in Canada. If looking for a good quality camping knife/EDC I could recommend a Spyderco delica ,endura or Manix 2 or a Benchmade 10750 or a Zero Tolerance 350.

Spend a little time on the Warriors and Wonders website as it is a good source for Canadians to buy knives.

My EDC rotates depending on what I'm doing, or if I just want a change of scenery.
