Help making a lanyard for a manix 2

Hi all, I'm looking for ideas of making a decent lanyard for my manix. This is my edc knife and I carry it inside my waistband. I live in the tropics, so I'm usually in shorts (mainly board shorts with only one pocket). So, I'm always short a place to put my keys. So, I have my single truck key connected to my manix right now and it makes a lot of sense. Always have my knife, and always have a place to put my key. Problem is, I've tried connecting it with a regular key ring and with a carabiner, but both tend to feel kind of "in the way". I think 2-3 inches of woven paracord connecting the knife straight to the key might be the ticket. It's only one key and I don't even need a key ring really, though some kind of way to quickly seperate the key from the knife might make sense. Ok, I'm just trying to get some ideas. I'm sure some of you have made something like this before. Any help much appreciated

Have you thought about using a small snap clip? I've seen some that are about 20 to 35 mm in length, in ss and titanium. I have some and they are good little clips. The other clip that may work for you is a plastic snap clip. One of these on your lanyard, would permit you to attach a key ring which can be easily removed.

I use one of the ss snap clips on on my main key ring to hold my car keys. This permits me to detach the car keys when I drive. In the past, I've had problems with the weight of the keys damaging the ignition switch.

PM me if you would like a link to the suppliers.

There's thread on here somewhere (can't find it just now) with paracord lanyards and this one with double loops should work well if you add a parachute clip to one end. I made this one for something (I forget what, obviously it wasn't that important as I've never used it) but it would work with just one buckle for the keyring and the other end attached directly to the knife. You could use a smaller buckle than this too.

Cool, thanks for all the ideas everyone.

Actually Bimjo, that one you posted would probably work fine. I would just tie one end straight to the knife and use the clip on the other end. What is the name of that knot?

Ok, found some old nylon string and rigged this up. This will work til I can get some 550 and do something nicer. I don't really like the carabiner...would rather have something like one of those clips you have bimjo.

Ah, my bad, the original thread was on the Spyderco forums, not here. I don't think it really has a name, it's just a double ended hangman's noose.

Shoot me an email to online at bimjo dot com with your snail mail address.

Thanks bimjo. I sent you an email through your profile. Appreciate everyone's help! I saw that thread with all stormdranes work and it inspired me to buy some paracord! hehe. I'm going to buy some when I go back to the states in a few weeks. Any particular brand or kind? Or is it all pretty much the same stuff?

Sorry SG, you'll have to resend the email. The addy in my profile was waaaaaay outdated. It's good to go now. I use Supply Captain as my primary paracord source. Good selection & they ship quickly.

I have heard good things about Supply Captain, also someone told me about campingsurvival.com they have decent prices it looks like. I usually just go to my local surplus store and pick it up. Last time I was there it was up to $0.12/foot

Hey bimjo, just got the lanyards in the mail. Thank you so much man! That was way cool of you to send those!

Bless,

Lance

Sure, but be patient. That was sent to my dads address in the states and it might be a couple of months before I visit. :-(. Oh well, it's kind of like I've got a Christmas present waiting on me when I go to the states! Hehe

Thanks again.
