What I want:
1) Axe/Hatchet pattern head, for chopping and splitting chores.
2) Reasonable weight for performing these tasks without being a full axe. (1.75 - 2lbs)
3) A case hardened poll for when I inevitably desire to mash on something (no tomahawk style poll though)
4) A Tomahawk style haft for easy field replacement (I just ain't talented enough to re-handle a standard hatchet/axe)

Once I have it figured out I would like to see about getting a custom done to spec.

I am having a bit of difficulty figuring out what pattern head would be the best. I live in the NE (Pennsylvania, near the Appalachians) Has anyone got any suggestions on this end. Frankly I just don't have the money to go and try out a variety of patterns to see how they do. So you, o' internet, I rely upon you. I'd greatly appreciate the input of ye experienced and wizened webernetters.

God bless,
Adam

Check out the latest from Coal Creek Forge. There are pictures on the first and likely second pages of this forum. He does hawks hung like hawks and small axes hung like axes, and hawk types hung like axes. Steve can do what you want.

Best regards

Robin

Robin,

Thanks for the input there. Steve has been my first choice, though, I didn't know he'd been doing such things. Does Steve do "consultations" for getting a proper bit setup?

God bless,
Adam

Robin,

Thanks again. I'm going to hold off a bit on e-mailing Steve until I'm closer to having the funds ready.

God bless,
Adam
