im trying to get that god damn stripped screw out of my bm 42a's handle but its not budging.. I took the drill to it and ended up breaking the drill bit and scratching my handle a litle bit..

What would be the best size of drill bit to use?

I would just send it in to BM but thats not gonna happen since im in Canada.. If any Canadians want to buy a bm 42 a that they could repair drop me an email.. Or with suggestions because id love to keep it if i can fix it.. But if not its sad to see a 250$ paper weight

I'll suggest an easyout extractor if you can find one small enough and if you've gotten the hole deep enough for it to seat itself. Other than that, all I can do is wish you luck :(

.........make a latchless out of it! Gollnick's got pictures on his site of one. Ease the ends off of those handles with a hacksaw, polish the 'stubs' with increasingly finer sandpaper and you're there! Mark the safe handle with some file work or something, if you want, and flip away!!!!!!!! ;) Steve Harvey did a masterful job making his 42 a latchless and I'm sure the pics are around here somewhere.............

get one of those funky Gator Grip things you see on TV that's supposed to be able to take out all kinds of screws (including stripped ones)

i would if it was the latch but its te handle

The thought ocurred to me that if you can grind the head of the screw off so that the rest of the screw clears the hole in the handle, what would stop you from taking a punch and driving the hole mess out the back end? Just my $.02.

..........:( :o..................Balut has a great idea. Get that head off of there and you could press or drive the sleeve and the remaining screw out of the back of the handle. I'm sure BM would send/sell you another set. E-mail Travis Noteboom at Benchmade.
