Help me build a knife kit! (a collection of specific function blades)

I love building kits. I had a field day building my survival kits. I want to assemble a collection of knives to cover an extremely wide range of uses. I plan on getting a custom sheath made for this kit, done in a way like those roll-up tool pouches that are common for wrenches.

What are some knives you know of, that really seem to excel at a specific funtion?

So far my plan is to get a small game skinner, a bigger game skinner, a fishing knife, a carving knife, a whittling knife, a scalpel type knife... etc (a chopper is obvious, as is a general bushcraft knife, but those are always on my belt, such as my Fehrman Hoodhunter and Peacemaker, or my Busse NMFBM LE and my Bark River Aurora).

What else would you include if you were building such a set? Weight is not really a concern, I just want the kit to be as versatile as possible, through a comprehensive collection of blades. In my head I picture a carving set, which has a large selection of knives all for a specific job. I am not looking for a carving set, but that is the kind of variety I am getting at. (If you understand what I am getting at, excellent. If not feel free to ask for clarification. I am having a hard time expressing what I mean.

Thanks!

Axe for firewood, furniture construction, etc., and a razor for shaving. You should also carry sharpening equipment. No knife kit is complete without a complimentary first aid kit. :D

Wharncliff is a must and I feel a 3-4" Bird and Trout is also appropriate.

You didn't mention any Multi Tools. I like my Leatherman and my Victorinox. I also have a few SAKs. I hate ticks and I have used the tweezers and magnifying glass on mine several times. Good Luck

I have always wondered... what exactly is a wharncliff used for? I have seen a few different kinds, and have always wondered what they are.

Also, Bark river describes many of their knives as excellent for caping, and they even go so far as to have a pro-caper. What is caping?

Thanks!

I have a couple multi tools and SAK's. Using SAK's as an example, my goal is to collect each tool separately, in full size, rather than a convenient all-in-one tool.

A wharnecliffe is. . .
Like a sheepsfoot (flat edge), but with a more useful point.

Don't forget to add a small cleaver!
