Hi all,
I'm Neil, a lurker for the most part but just bought a gold membership & hope to be around a bit more. I learn a lot from reading the threads here, but would like to have a knife magazine to read through & learn from when I'm not online. I've found a couple at a local store, but they seem to get one and never carry it again. These few examples have been strongly slanted toward "combat" and/or "tactical" type knives which don't interest me much as I have no use for them generally (but do have a few I like). Traditionals suit me best, and I'm still looking for the knife that's perfect for me. I think I may find it in this years forum knife. But back to the magazines, Blade seems to be considered the overall best, most popular, etc. However, I found an old thread here in which it was suggested that Knife World was better for someone primarily interested in traditional knives. Is this still the case? I really only want to subscribe to a single mag as my knife budget is tight and money spent on a magazine could otherwise be used to get a bit better knife.
Thanks, Neil

I prefer Knife World for Traditional type info and some very interesting and informative articles, primarily about Traditional Knives.

You cannot beat KnifeWorld Magazine on the subject of traditional knives!

Try them all. None of them are that great to me but I like flipping through them. If they would all consolidate into one magazine, we'd have an awesome mag to read each month.

magazine? on paper? Was there a time warp? Are we in 1992 again? I browse Bladeforums on my phone waiting at the barber shop, and he has knife and gun mags. It's old news till they print it and mail it. Probably welcome if you're in Turkey or North Carolina, but the rest of the modern world, not so much. (Love NC btw).

KnifeWorld is the best! If you wanna read about Traditional knives, Which I'm sure
you do....Good luck.

Jason

I'm going to also recommend Knife World. It's the only one that really goes into traditional knives and their history, who the old companies were, and also the individual makers. A very good little publication. Back in the 1980's when I was writing some, I wrote a bit for all the knife magazines, but Knife World and Mr. Houston Price was by far the most respectable operation. He never put any conditions on what was written, no mandatory subject with nice things said about the product no matter if it was merited or not, and most of all, his paychecks were on time and never bounced. I ended up writing just for Knife World because that was the only magazine I was willing to spend my time for.

Carl.
