Hi everyone,
I'm a budding knife nut, and I've just come across a good reason to celebrate by getting a new knife. My collection right now is very small, but I think the knives are pretty solid choices (grip, endura, buck 110). What I'm looking for now is a high quality EDCable folder, somewhere in the $100-250 range (a step or two above what I have now). Some of the ones that I'm considering right now are:

BM 710
Spyderco Sage 2
Spyderco titanium millie
ZT 0551
HEST folder
Buck Mayo TNT

Obviously I have some in picking up a ti-framelock, but what I really want from the knife is to never think "wow i wish i were using(insert name of other knife here) instead of this one right now."

I'd love to hear some thoughts on the knives I've listed there or any others that you may think fit the bill.

Thanks!

Well I love my Benchmade 710, can't go wrong there :) all are good choices. If you can get one of the knifeworks version of the titanium military it's really cool. G10 on one side but still has the titanium RIL(Reeve Integral Lock) and M4 steel :D

One of the Spyderco Manix 2's should fit the bill as well. Really high quality knives, with a pretty wide variety of steels available (154CM in the production, S90V, S30V, CTS-XHP, and another one on the way in the new product catalogue).

Dream on. If you're a budding knife nut, you'll probably never be able to say this.

All of your current possibilities are good ones and all are high quality. Ask yourself what your EDC uses are likely to be, how heavy a knife you like to carry daily, and whether there are any legal restrictions on folding knives where you live. Then pick the knife from your list that meets the criteria you have established. As you can, acquire the others on your list and see how you like them.

For my EDC uses (and this is just me), the Sage 2 would be the best choice out of that group. Size, weight, and cutting performance put it at the top of my list. My TNT was too light for my tastes... more like a gent's high quality framelock. The Millie is too long for my EDC needs and when I carry a Millie I prefer G10 and a liner lock. Never had a HEST or the ZT 551 but based on the ZT 350 I had, they're all a bit too big and clunky for my taste. Fine blades, but not my cuppa tea. I've toyed with the idea of a 710 for years, played with some, just couldn't come to buy one. If I want a 4" folder I'll carry one of my Millies without a recurve blade and with a more comfortable handle.

Good luck picking the one you want to live with each day. Remember that this isn't a Saturday night fling with the flashiest one you can find... this is for a day in and day out, whatever's likely to come my way, let's go home and meet the parents kinda relationship.

People will hate me for saying this, but spend the extra $80 and go for a small Sebenza. You'll have one of the best production folders money can buy, and you won't be thinking "I should have bought a Sebenza," when you hear about them constantly on this forum.

Have a look the Fallkniven folders range.
The FH9 is excellent for EDC(MY personal choice) the TK3's are good as well.
Search the archives I do not think you will find any negative comments about these knives.
