I've had a couple threads here asking for help finding something out there that I can use as a formal-ish EDC for work (business casual generally) and church type occasions. My birthday came and went this last week, and since neither of these knives showed up, I now have free reign to choose one of them for myself.
After lots of help, and some google-fu, I've narrowed my search down to two knifes. If someone can help me find something like either of these for a similar price point, then I'll consider a newcomer as well. Both knives are a bit more modern looking, and have blades between 2.5-2.75 in, and are around $50 give or take.
First up, the AG Russel 3in Carbon Fiber Lockback. Its got a 2.5in VG-10 blade, and I love how tiny and light it is. The downside to it, is that it doesn't have a pocket clip (and the carry case doesn't either). I know its a traditional style knife and it shouldn't need one, but my preference is towards knives with clips.
The contender is the Boker Elegance G10. It sports a 2 5/8in 440c blade, titanium bolsters and G10 inlays. I like the pocket clip, and the william henry-esque look it has. I have seen though that the blade length (usable blade that is) might actually only 2in, which seems small for a knife with a "2 5/8in" blade. This is also the knife that I have read less about, so I would love some input from owners of this knife. And despite the difference in photo sizes, it appears that this knife is actually smaller than the AG Russel. I originally imposed a certain length requirement for the blade, and the "2 5/8in" was within it, while the 2in is not.
Also, there is a severe lack of reviews on either blade (try looking for images of either of them in the web... it really is quite sparse), so if you were to go with one of these blades for my intended carry requirements, what would you do?
Thanks for the help.
