I can't decide...

The bk7 will be shorter, but it will be able to do maller tasks well.

The bk9 will chop better, but it'll be a little more clumsy for things like carving.

I'll get both eventually but not the losing knife right after the winning one, because I need to get a backpack. And backpack comes first two a second similar knife. Let me know why you chose either the BK9 or BK7, thanks!

BK7. Has plenty of length to do minor chopping which I think is what a knife should be limited to. If you really need to chop, get an axe.

Thats a close one, I would go for the BK7 first however you can save on shipping if you buy both at the same time.

I would go with the BK7. I have one and it is a great knife! And like the other man said, if you need something larger for choping go with a hachet.

well I just ordered a BK2 and a BK7, I've wanted a BK2 for a while and I figured I'd go ahead and get the BK7 too since I would end up getting it at some point anyway. I like my Ka-bar a lot and I figure that the Becker is the all the good parts of the Ka-bar fighting knife but with a stronger tang. I'm looking forward to my first Beckers with high expectations.

I think you'll like 'em BR. They're two very different knives. I think the BK7 is more versatile, but the BK2 just begs to pry on stuff and to be beat on the head. It'll probably be the most over-built knife you've ever held in your hand!

The BK7 is a big knife and if youre going to get a big knife get the bk9. But with the bk9 you'll want a smaller bk2 also. No need to have Both bk9 and bk7 IMHO if you have the bk2.

Good advice, if you have a good back, but for those of us that dont................

BIG CHOPPER!! :D

I have both, but if I was to get them in the order of most usefulness it would be the BK-7 as a first purchase. It'll be used more for more tasks. The BK-9 is my BEST CHOPPER and I own a BRUTE too!! I think the BK-9 is more efficient for chopping. The BK-7 is a more general purpose knife and the BK-9 is a chopper and bigger chores knife.

That's my $.02 worth!

Take the BK7!

Ofcorse, i like big knives... the BK7 fits all time in wilderness it´s small engoh for fine work and rough engoh for the bad things in the wood...Nail it in the Tree and clime it, that´s funny;)

Because, every thing you do with a fine knive(BK7) you can do it with a big blade not so god...all so you can do it...

Perhabs some things you do with a longer blade you often can not do it withe a fine knive...

Take the 7er this 2" makes most of the time nothing... waht i want to tell with my broken words is "TAKE THE 7er and use you´re skill´s" some kind of skills you´ve seen in this vid from Chris http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W64NL7oj6fk&feature=channel

Greats

oddly enough, i've never gotten around to truly testing a BK-07 Combat Utility... just never seems to "come up"... i'm always reaching for a BK-04 MachAx (Blackjack era), or a BK-09 Combat Bowie instead - mostly for chopping and limbing and splitting stuff.

smaller chores get the very convexed BK-10 Crewman user i have or BK-02 Campanion (Blackjack era), or a smaller thinner bushcraft style knife (puuko, mora 2000, fallkniven)...

lately, i use the BK-03 TacTool (KarBar) a lot to split wood like a fro, because lets face it, batoning is TOUGH on a knife, and the tactool is a beast :> keeps my knives shaving sharp longer, eh?

I have both and I find the BK7 more handy. If I feel the need to chop, I'm gonna use one of my khukuris.

I got the BK7 and I think it is a great knife. For bigger chopping jobs I bought a KaBar Kukri Machete with 11.5" blade for $45 - I don't like it for smaller jobs because it is too heavy, but it can chop pretty darn good. I wouldn't mind buying a BK9 because I like the BK7 so much, but I don't know if it is worth having the BK7, BK9 and 11.5" Kukri - would getting the 9" in betweener make any sense?

It think this poll is showing the truth, both blades are GREAT! I find I use each a little differently, but would have a tough time picking only one for everything.
