I have several needle files that I use to clean out the insides of guards but they get clogged very easy. Are there any other files out there aound the 3/16" thick x1/4" wide range with one side safe?

I have looked at local hardware stores and onlne but can't fine what I'm looking for. I might be doomed to use needle files. What do ya'll use?
Thanks,
Jason

I've had no luck at all with needle file sets, I don't think they're designed to last long on tough steel or even brass. They're helpful for cleaning up really tiny areas like filework but not for actual stock-removal as in squaring up a guard slot.

I buy regular files close to the size I want and grind safe sides on them, and/or reshape them to fit the slots as needed.

A small equaling or pillar file will work well. Either get one in the desired size, or modify one by grinding it down.
A small set of key files works, too.

Jason there are files out there about that size called "Pillar" files, and they have 2 safe sides, and cut on top and bottom. Google it on up......Larry
