Greetings knifers!
I am looking to get a new knife.
For reference i own a Spyderco Para3 Lightweight.
I want something larger this time, and with different blade shape (The Para 3 blade shape is really weird and almost no straight edge).
My requirements:
* Budget max about 120 euro. Also looking into used knives for this price.
* I live in Europe so do not recommend knives that are not sold or are hard and expensive to import here.
* Actual cutting edge length more than 82 mm, ideally more than 85 mm (3.35 inch).
* Weight no more than 120 g, ideally less than 100 g (3.5 oz).
* As much blade length for the weight as possible, lightweight handle, but not too much flimsiness ( no Benchmade Bugout...).
* Blade steel D2 or higher value/quality.
* Blade shape in order of preference: spear point/dagger, tanto, clip point, drop point and then all other variations. No sheepfoots,wharnclifs,recurves,or weird shapes.
* Piercing performance super important hence spear point preference.
* Slicing performance somewhat important but less. I do not need large bellys, maybe a slight belly. Also not very wide blades.
* Thin blade stock relatively.
* Has to be strong enough for light batoning. I do not want a buschcraft knife however, the only two bushcraft tasks it will do will be wood shaving and light batoning. I will be careful with it.
* No linerlocks!
* Would prefer no frame locks, unless it is very good value.
* Would prefer cross bar locks, axis locks or other strong locks like button locks.
* Fidget factor is nice to have. Quick smooth opening is essential, closure not as much essential. Ball bearings prefered.
* Deep pocket clip (its hidden entirely in pocket or max 1 cm exposed).
So far, in my searh i have come up with these knives that fit the above (admitedly large...) bill:
1. Kershaw Iridium. Currently my first choice,its good allrounder. Would prefer micarta to alu scales but ok.
2. SRM 9201. Cheap and effective. Blade shape not as lovely as Iridium. Not as great finish overall, but will easily do all the bushcraft tasks.
3. Real steel G frame Ostap Hel. This one is long and light. But only for light duty.
Thanks!!
