I am looking at getting a new knife, the 2 I am looking at is the Kershaw Tyrade w/ Composite Blade G10 handles, and the JYD II with composite blade. Anyone here have experience with both, what do you like and dislike?

I have a ZT0200, how doe these compare in size, specifically in handle width? How do these carry? I know they are big but I like bigger folders.

Where I live I am unable to handle knives before I buy them so everything is done over the internet and help from people like you.

Thanks

Get both, I have both and I like both very well, I don't have any Zt's, the Tyrade and the JYDII carry differently from one another the Ty being a little larger, It would be very hard to choose, however the Ty is a more limited edition

I have both. The JYDII feels a tad smaller in the hand and the Tyrade is feels stockier and has a thicker blade. I really like both but I am loving my new Orange G10 Tyrade and I like the blade shape a little better than my JYD. Both are very grippy with checkered G10. Both are great knives.

If I have a chance later I'll post a comparison photo.

I think the tyrades are a little bit stronger, if that could be possible.

The ZT0200 and G10 Tyrade are about the same length in oal, and the blades are also. The ZT is a little bit heavier. The Tyrade is .54" in handle thickness, while the ZT's thickness varies, but at the thickest points, ends and middle, it is .74"thick. I have no problems carrying the ZT, but I do like the flatness of the Tyrade. Since I have put on the foldover deep carry clip, all you see is the short, little, black clip on the outside of my pocket and no screaming orange until I pull it out.

this may be a dumb question bu has any of you that have the orange and black tyrade swapped out 1 scale of each so you have 1 orange and 1 black scale on each knife. Kinda like the ZT -Strider look. I ordered the g-10 orange tyrade and may order more before the night is over. Keep the input coming

I'm sure you won't have a problem.

The Tyrade is a bit thicker because the blade is a bit thicker. The scales and the liners are the same size on both. The JYD's thinner blade will probably make a better slicer (not the Tyrade isn't a good slicer), but may not take the abuse the Tyrade would. The Tyrade has speedsafe where the JYD doesn't, if that makes a difference. I like the feel of the handle better on the Tyrade. My fingers felt a little bunched together with the JYD because is was more narrow front to back. My JYD had an issue with the retention bearing. Kershaw replaced it with a new one. While it was gone I purchase the Tyrade, so I sold the new JYD to a friend for a good price. All he had before was a convenience store knife that someone had given to him, so the JYD was a major steep up and he really likes it.

I have the JYDII and the ZT0200 is the next to get on my list.

I have been using my JYD almost daily for the last 3 months and become more impressed with it through that usage.

i got 2 tyrades. Orange and Black and preordered the Tan and Blue. After those I will give the JYD 2 a try
