Recommendation? Help me choose

Hey fellas

I am interested in getting either a Benchmade 940, 940-1 or a 551-1. Of the three least likely is the 940-1 simply due to price. I live in Canada and am worried about changes in Border Services stance on assisted opening knives and want to try one of those Benchmades while I have access to them. Unfortunately I likely would be unable to handle them before hand.

In town usually carry a Para2 in M390 or a Caly3 in damascus, in the field I carry a Para2 in S35Vn.

I would lean toward a 943 over a 940; the 940 blade shape never appealed to me. The 551-1 is a solid option...and the one I would choose over either 940.
 
The 940 series is a nice change of pace from the PM2. Light and non obtrusive in the pocket while still sporting a 3.5ish blade in a very capable knife. Along with your Caly 3 and Pm2, it gives you a small, medium and large option.

The 940-1 is my favorite, but as you mentioned the priciest version. I love my aluminum 940 but the scales get very cold in the winter time.
 
I prefer the 551-1 for a more comfortable handle, but the 940 is a triumph when it comes to pocket carry and blade-to-handle ratio for sure.
 
551 is about same size of what you currently carry. 940 much smaller, more like a mini grip.
