I need a knife with the best steel available. Have thought of S30V but maybe ZDP-189. I need something to carry but not use. But be able to talk about the steel. I may open a letter or two with it, but want to keep sharp for peeling slivers off paper. I want a comfortable grip for looking at it and flicking open. Multi-directional clip if I ever want to take it out of my pocket. I plan to carry a SAK for actual cutting but don't want to show it to anyone. Need high "Whooooieee" factor.

Any suggestions? (No mention of orifices needed)

:D :jerkit: :D

Do you plan to shave your forearms with it? Budget? Any allergies to exotic natural handle materials?

How about a CRK Sebenza, or a William Henry knife? How much DO you want to spend?

TKC is on the track I was thinking too. ZDP-189 William Henry, S30V either Seb or Mnandi. I can't afford either, but for your "Whooooieeefactor" they should do the trick :)

An unmarked 12" Bowie from China should do. The steel shouldn't matter, you can say it's whatever you want. Since it's not marked, you can deliver great tales of the Master Custom Maker and his Mystical Powers of Forging.

Otherwise, any of the black-coated tanto-bladed one-hand-opening plastic-handled tactical Special Forces Mall-Ninja knives will fulfill your requirements.

Dark Ops?

Bob W, thanks for the reminder. YEAH! It's gotta be a one hander. I used to be able to open mail with a knife that opened with the other hand, but nowadays with PRIORITY mail, ya gotta be QUICK!!!

How bout a Mini-SKirmish, Sabenza, BM 610 Rukus or Manix? All of them fit your description.

I'd go with sometihg from Spyderco in the ZDp-189 range, or if you can wait I believe a sprint run of something in CPM 125V is coming out!

Yes, the enormous Spyderco ZDP-189 range.

Seriously, this steel does seem to be a hit here. Are they going to expand this range any time soon?

Yes, just today they announced the Horn will be done in ZDP-189. Also the Delica is going to be in the near future.

Heck man... just get a Microtech, Protech, or Darrel Ralph -- AUTOMATIC, and all three should provide that "WOW" factor you're looking for. I know my BM Auto-Stryker 9130 Taurus did... still does... :-)

Seems to me the important thing is not what kind of steel it's made of -- it's how loud it clicks. The trouble is you can't tell that from looking at pictures on the web. Maybe we can get Cliff to do some tests....

Yeh yeh yeh.....CLICKING.... Man, I'm fergittin everything. Needs GOOD click! Hey, someone should come up with a PUMP ACTION knife. Pull it out, shuck the pump.....an watch em RUN!!!!

"Shick-Shla-FLOOMP" hoo boy, NUTTIN like dat sound.

:D :D :D

i think so lemme get my 42' long 1 handed opening auto total black forged by the mystical master cutom maker dude guy person in the supreme ultra good 1000000000.7 stainless steel imported from the finest place ever.....china...... meet you at the mall to brag about it..... lol lol lol lol

Dude, get a Darryl Ralph typhoon; all the custom bragging rights, and A balisong has the ultimate Whooooie factor. And It makes a lot of noise!

...and when you get that 'black-coated tanto-bladed one-hand-opening plastic-handled tactical Special Forces Mall-Ninja' knife, make sure it's just like that mug I got in Florida, where when you get the outside of it wet you see a naked picture of...talk about "WOW" factor!

why didnt you quote me because my mall ninja knife is the best one out ther its "one of a kind " quote from TV when they sold me the crate of 2000 knives on tv.
